Today you all took your chapter 2 "big quiz." I'm betting everybody did well. So from here:

Tuesday: chap 3 section 1-- atomic theory. HW: ch 3 sx 1 worksheet: read ch 1 sx 2.
Wednesday-- What is an atom and how do we know?HW: ch 3 sx 2 wksht
Thursday-- More on What is an Atom? HW: read lab
Friday-- LAB: law of conservation of mass

the next week we'll learn how to talk about weights of atoms. Expect a test at the end of the week.

Get ready, because we will TAKE A TEST ON CHAPTER 2 ON FRIDAY! It's a short chapter.

Also... I'm really sorry guys, but we have to defer the "Taste Test" portion of the popcorn lab to Tuesday. Seems that my schedule won't allow me to have popped-up corn for you on Monday. So we'll pop-but-not-eat Monday and eat/discuss data on Tuesday.

MON- Popcorn Lab-- the not-eating portion. Turn in Ch 2 sxn 1 HW if not already in.
TUE-- Popcorn Lab-- the taste test. Discuss data for popcorn lab; HW: read ch 2 sxn 3.
WED-- Scientific notation and sig figs. HW: ch 2 sx 3 worksheet
THUR-- finish up chapter 2
FRI-- chapter 2 test

MORE ON CHEMICAL AND PHYSICAL CHANGES

Here's my hero, Paul Anderson, explaining chemical and physical changes. We'll watch him on Tuesday, then do some chemical and physical changes of our own in the lab.

NEXT WEEK'S PROJECT:

Be thinking about which element you'd like to do for next week's poster project, which will start Tuesday and be due Friday. Have at least three you'd like to do, because no two people can have the same one!
